Labor Reform for Artists and New Audiovisual Agreement 2025

This year brings important changes in labor and salary regulations that directly affect artists, technicians, and cultural professionals.

Labor Reform for Artists: An Expected Update

The Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz, announced this summer a new reform focused on the labor system for artists, technicians, and assistants in the cultural and audiovisual sectors.

Still pending approval as a Royal Decree, this reform aims to modernize the legal framework and strengthen labor protection for those working in the performing arts and entertainment industry. Among the proposed measures are greater union representation and improved tools for collective bargaining, updated working conditions adapted to today’s industry realities, a redefinition of the concept of “public performance,” and more flexible yet secure hiring mechanisms.

In short, a reform designed to bring legislation closer to the real dynamics of the artistic sector.

New Collective Agreement for Audiovisual Production 2025

The 4th Collective Agreement for Audiovisual Production has also been published, including an update to salary tables effective from August 1, 2025.

Wages have increased by 2.2%, with another raise expected in January 2026. This update applies to all professional categories in the sector — artists, technicians, and auxiliary staff — ensuring fairer working conditions aligned with the current economic context.

The new agreement strengthens the audiovisual sector’s commitment to transparency, competitiveness, and continuous improvement of labor conditions.
