Bereavement leave, new time tracking requirements, and inspections in focus

Autumn brings important updates in labor regulations. Here’s a summary of changes that may affect your company and what to keep in mind.

Possible extension of bereavement leave to 10 days

The Ministry of Labor has proposed extending bereavement leave to 10 days, as well as introducing a new leave specifically for palliative care.

Although the measure is still in progress, it is expected to be approved in the coming months. Companies can get ahead by reviewing internal policies and offering more flexibility for employees in mourning.

At Monday, we recommend reviewing leave protocols and internal communication to ensure smooth management once the measure becomes official.

New framework for time tracking

The government is preparing a Royal Decree that will strengthen requirements for time tracking. The regulation will require more detailed documentation of the workday: start and end times, breaks, overtime, how overtime is compensated (monetarily or with time off), and telework hours.

Systems must be digital, traceable, and accessible in case of inspection.

It’s a good time to check that your current system meets these requirements and that the information is properly stored. If you need help adapting it, Monday can assist you in reviewing and updating your processes.

Labor inspections: more focus on documentation

In 2025, labor inspections are increasing their focus on working hours, overtime compensation, and proper contract formalization. Inspectors are paying closer attention to the consistency between time records, payroll, and contract terms.

There is also continued scrutiny regarding false self-employment, staff leasing between companies, and pay equality, issues that remain at the center of inspections.

In this context, it’s worth reviewing internal procedures and ensuring all labor documentation is up to date and aligned. A preventive check now can help avoid penalties later and provide peace of mind for the entire organization.
